The Core Mechanic

No daring deed is guaranteed to succeed. Often, you must test one of your hero's five skills: AgilityFightingIntellectStrength, or Will. To make a test, you roll the die associated with that skill and compare your result to a target number.

If your result equals or exceeds the target number, you succeed! If it comes up short, you fail (or you achieve a costly success; see Outcomes.
